
Full-ride from McGill University
It’s official. Dilshod Bakhtiyorov has secured the full-ride Rimer Entrance Scholarship from McGill University, Canada’s #1 and one of the world's top 30 universities.
This is the first student not only from Uzbekistan, but from all of Central Asia, to have ever received the prestigious full-ride scholarship from McGill.

Rimer Scholarship
Established in 2024 by Gerald Rimer, BCom 1956, for international-fee-paying students entering any undergraduate program at the University. Awarded by Scholarships and Student Aid on the basis of demonstrated financial need and good academic standing. The award will cover tuition and mandatory fees, a standard allowance for books and living costs, as well as the cost of return flights home.
The bursary is renewable and will cover the following:
Tuition and mandatory (ancillary) fees, regardless of which Bachelor program you enroll in
First year residence accommodation (on-campus residence room and meal plan) *OR an allowance if you choose to live off-campus
Book allowance of $500 per semester (fall and winter)
A one-time $1,500 toward the purchase of a laptop
$1500 per year for travel home
About Gerald Rimer
Gerald Rimer earned a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill in 1956 and went on to carve out a successful career in the international financial sector. He is a longtime supporter of his alma mater. In 2012, he established the Judie Rimer Entrance Scholarship in honour of his late wife. In 2017 he made a generous gift to the Desautels Faculty of Management to support renovations to the Faculty’s Armstrong Building. A gift from the Rimer family in 2021 will support the establishment of the Institute for Indigenous Research and Knowledges at McGill.
