Who Is Sevinch Alibekova?

Sevinch graduated from School No. 35 with honors, finishing at the top of her class, a foundation she credits as one of the key reasons she was admitted to a SKY university with a full scholarship. From an early age, she balanced math and English courses alongside musical school, a combination that paid off in a strong application: an IELTS score of 7.5 and a diploma from musical school.

Today, she is a student at Korea University, ranked 61st in the QS World University Rankings and known for its prestigious Global Leader Scholarship A, which covers 100% of tuition fees — the very scholarship Sevinch received.

What Is Korea University Like?

Korea University's Anam campus is famous for its breathtaking Gothic architecture. Students often compare it to Hogwarts from the Harry Potter films. But beyond its looks, it offers world-class facilities for studying, sports, and student life, including annual festivals featuring popular K-pop artists.

Sevinch has already joined three university clubs since arriving:

Korea University Debate Club (KUDC), where she recently participated in the DAE x KIDA tournament among 20 top Korean universities. KU Talk, a public speaking club that has helped her grow in confidence. And the Korea University Orchestra, where she plays as a second violinist in her spare time.

She also highlights how natural it feels to build international friendships on campus, an environment that supports both personal and professional growth.

"I would love to see more students from Uzbekistan at Korea University."

Why Study in South Korea?

South Korea actively encourages international students to enroll in its universities and offers various scholarship programs to support them, including the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS), a government-funded program covering 100% of tuition fees and living expenses. Many universities also provide merit-based scholarships covering anywhere from 30% to 100% of tuition costs.

Despite most universities being private, tuition fees remain relatively affordable, with annual costs for a bachelor's degree ranging from approximately $5,900 to $13,480 depending on the university and field of study.
